Volv Global


TBW enjoy working with founder run companies. Their energy, innovation and purpose are infectious. Volv Global was one of the first companies to use AI in the healthcare sector, and in 2017 started a new business to use machine learning to identify previously untraceable rare diseases. Eight years on, AI is increasingly ubiquitous in healthcare, Volv Global wanted to highlight what makes them different from rival healthcare brands and get noticed by the decision-makers in the boardrooms of global pharmaceutical companies. This is where TBW comes in.

THE PROCESS

To get started, we conducted a workshop at Volv Global HQ in Switzerland to learn more about the company, their competition and their impact. We quickly realised that most of Volv Global’s competitors have a technology-centred approach to messaging and visuals. Volv Global, however, wanted to put the patient at the heart of their story. And they wanted this story to be simple, clear and accessible to all, from clinicians to customers.

THE SOLUTION

We devised a positioning statement – ‘Transforming the futures of our clients and their patients’ – and an overarching belief – ‘Every individual matters’ – as a focus for the brand’s new visual and verbal language.

 

While competitors have leant into the complexity of science and algorithms, with their branding almost slightly dystopian, TBW and Volv Global together embraced the human element. We created a bright and positive visual identity that would not look out of place in a fabulous modern art gallery or a high-end healthcare facility.

 

And to reflect the brand ethos – that every individual matters – we recommended simple, directed language and images of people to populate the design landscape.

THE DELIVERABLES

Working closely with the Volv Global team, we created a suite of visual assets including fonts and a primary and secondary colour palette. We’ve generated a suite of icons that relate to Volv Global and its business and populated a bank of people images of different scales, underscoring the message that every individual matters.

 

These elements have been pulled together in a pick-and-mix of business cards and animated email signatures that Volv Global employees can combine for their own individual touch. We’ve also created large backlit booth walls and banners so that Volv Global can stand out from its competitors at conferences and exhibitions.

 

And when it comes to new business outreach or social media, we have created templates so Volv Global can develop its own presentations and messaging for each occasion.

NEXT STEPS

In the next phase of work, we’ll be working on films, animations and website, embedding the new verbal and visual assets into Volv Global’s digital storytelling so a wider audience can get to know this inspiring, purpose-driven brand.
